Naiyla and Kevin Mehndi - July 3, 2008

Naiyla and Kevin had a three-day wedding extravaganza, July 3 to5. It all started with the Mendhi ceremony on Thursday, which turned out to be one of the hottest days of summer. But we had a blast photographing this wedding. It was fun, emotional and involved lots of dancing.

Naiyla and Kevin

This past weekend, we photographed a mixed-cultural wedding. Despite being exhausted afterwards, it was a lot of fun. Nailya and Kevin first had a traditional Muslim Mendhi party on Thursday evening at Naiyla's parents house. The next day was the Muslim wedding, which was different from the other traditional Muslim weddings we have photographed. On Saturday, the two were married by Kevin's pastor at the Delta Hotel in a traditional Church-style wedding, which was followed by the reception. Needless to say, after all this anyone would be exhausted. While I sift through all the photographs, here are a few details of the gorgeous jewellery Naiyla received at her mendhi .....

Graduation and Prom Portraits

We were in B.C. this past weekend for my younger brother and sister's graduation. My brother graduated from UNBC, while my sister from high school. My cousin decided it had been a few years since she wore her prom dress, so she and my sister decided to put their dresses on and we headed out for a photo shoot. So here are some of those pictures as promised. We went to Rainbow Park in P.G. just as the sun was setting. Since this was quite spontaneous .... all they did was put their dresses on .... no make-up, no hair styled by professionals ..... They both look so beautiful.

New Website

We've been busy working on a new website, which hasn't left much time for new posts. We're redoing the entire site ..... new colours...new layout...new photos, so it'll look fresh. Also what's being added to the website is a proofing area for clients, where they can view their photographs. Our goal is to have the website up by the end of the month. Therefore, in the excitement of our new website, anyone who books a wedding or session will receive 15% off the package price. Remember, we still have dates available for 2008/2009.

Reporter/Photographer

When I first started working as a reporter and photographer in Leduc almost four years ago (even though I've moved on from there), we were using film. I was fresh out of J-school and everyone in the newsroom used film. While we quickly went digital within the year, here are my first photographs from that summer taken using a Nikon film camera.

This was a photograph I took at the junior high school where there was a track and field competition going on. This kid really jumped high and not straight into the air.

The outdoor pool always made for a good standalone photograph or "filler" for the newspaper when needed. I have to admit, it was a popular spot for some really good photos.

Nicole and Colin - Pemberton, B.C.

So now that I've promised to keep my blog updated, I've decided to go back and post photographs. Here are photographs from Nicole and Colin's wedding in June. The wedding was in Pemberton, B.C. (45-minutes from Whistler,B.C), so the beautiful mountain backdrop served for some awesome photographs.
